Warm Milk for Little Miss
49
Little Miss, I apologize greatly.
I gave you cold milk and now you hate me.
Your little pink cup was filled to the top
You took one sip and abruptly stopped.
You looked at me with those pretty brown eyes
To say "Warm it up, or you shall die!"
I quickly jumped up to the microwave
To fix your milk, just the right way.
It was now warm to your liking,
But you still gave me a look that was really quite frightening.
I said, "It's warm, I promise this time."
You started to drink, you felt the warmth
And quickly realized that it was just fine.
You drank it all up and filled your tummy,
You smacked your lips to say it was yummy.
Your eyes became heavy, heavy with sleep.
I wrapped you in a blanket, a blanket of fleece
And for two whole hours, I didn't hear a peep.

Your poem brought back memories. I got my first taste of chocolate milk when I was a toddler. Chocolate and strawberry have been my favorites ever since. Thanks for sharing.
Hi bcatgray, I really liked this poem of yours. Told your story well and it was funny. You say you're not really a poetry writer but this was good and i think you should definitely do some more. Cheers. Michael.

Why I wrote this poem:
I am a caretaker of a 12 month old toddler. Each day I sit and watch her and she just cracks me up so much. Today was a day that she had to have her way and it inspired me to write this about her.
I'm really not a poetry writer, so I have no idea where this came from. Maybe I'm getting the writing bug thanks to using Hubpages and reading all of the wonderful hubs!
